CHART READING

A chart tells more than one story.

Learn to examine candles, trends and timeframes together.

Understand a candle

A candlestick summarises the opening, high, low and closing price for its interval. Its body and wicks show different parts of that range. The current candle can change until the interval ends.

Compare timeframes

A 15-minute view and a daily view can show different patterns for the same instrument. A small move in one interval may be part of a broader move in another. Changing the timeframe changes the context, rather than making a conclusion automatically more reliable.

Look beyond one indicator

Technical indicators are derived from their inputs and settings. Different indicators can disagree. Review the price structure and the assumptions behind a tool before assigning significance to a rating.

Check the source

Provider charts and technical ratings are external information. A sample classification in the Bubble Scanner is a separate illustration. Do not combine these as though they come from the same live signal model.

Your next step

Select an instrument in Smart Charts. Compare the 1-hour and daily views. Record what changes and what stays consistent. A useful observation includes uncertainty as well as a possible explanation.
